My Kids – Ayden, Dusty, Jesse, Bridge; June 2008

I grew up between Weiser, ID, and Hoquiam, WA. I received my bachelor’s degree from Central Washington University, where I majored in Visual Arts and studied photography. Before that I studied at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and earned my Associate’s degree from Grays Harbor Community College.

I went back to get my graduate degree in teaching from The Evergreen State College, and earned a Master’s in Teaching (MIT). This two-year, rigorous program left me feeling prepared and ready to enter into teaching full-time. Since then I have taught continuously, spending much of my time teaching in culturally diverse locations such as Playa de Coco in Costa Rica, and in a Yup’ik culture in the Alaskan Bush. These opportunities have pushed me as a teacher, and allowed me to better understand the many different ways culture affects the learning process.

I am a passionate person, and dive into my activities. I love my students, to teach, and get excited by learning. In my free time I garden, crochet, and draw. I see every day as a new possibility & choose to live it to it’s fullest. My husband and I travel when we can, and see every possibility as an adventure.
